Nostalgia can be understood from multiple dimensions. Beyond ‘the past’, we use emotions, material objects, their senses, nonhumans, food, and music as a *frame of reference* to justify why something is ‘nostalgic’.
Longing for a certain pasts (e.g., rose-tinted or before one’s time) may also indicate our desires for the present. Being nostalgic for ‘lost futures’ is a *frame of reference* we can use towards utopian / collective goals.
Anemoia, a nostalgia for a time you never lived through… what are its *frames of references*? Why do we yearn and long for things, at all?
We are inviting scholars *and* artists to explore what ‘frames of references’ mean, and can do, in relation to nostalgia. Your works can be presented, exhibited, or performed.
