NOSTAGAIN and IMNN joint event: CFP: SPRING INTO NOSTALGIA – PLONGER DANS LA NOSTALGIE
What does nostalgia ‘look’ and feel like in your everyday life as researchers, artists, media consumers, musicians, writers, filmmakers, collectors, online community participants, gamers, and so on?
On May 12, 2025 at the 4TH SPACE, we invite you to present a RESEARCH PAPER, ARTWORK, or lead a WORKSHOP that engages with the following ideas:
- Nostalgia in space and time – where can we find nostalgia? Museums, graveyards, relics? Or attics, memory palaces, and everyday object triggers?
- Nostalgia and social narrative – social institutions, politicians, or communities that decide ‘what’ is nostalgic and ‘who’ gets to be.
- Nostalgia and (online) communities – how do technology, memory, and nostalgia interact with one another? Are digitally preserved pasts always respected or are they contested? Who decides this?
- Nostalgia and art, music, and research creation – how do artistic practices convey, materialize, or embody memory into materials? What reflections can you share with us?
- Nostalgia and nature – can we be nostalgic in response to climate change? What does this feel like? Can this nostalgia mobilize us into action?
Please submit an abstract to this form before 16 April 2025, at 11:59pm.
Our interuniversity and bilingual (English/French) event will happen at the 4TH SPACE, Room LB-103, 1400 De Maisonneuve Blvd. W., and will be livestreamed and open to the public.
